In honor of Parshas Chayei Sara, our students went Jewelry shopping. They had a choice to shop for themselves, their mothers or their sisters. The students got the opportunity to purchase beautiful cufflinks, bracelets, necklaces, earrings and more!
This amazing event was a collaborative effort amongst many different departments in Atidaynu, including the Art Department, the Occupational Therapy Department, the Life Skills Department, the Woodworking Department, and the Culture Department.
Here's how we all worked together:
Art Department- The Atidaynu Jewelry shop was beautifully designed and constructed by our extremely talented and very own Toni Tabbush!
Woodworking Department- The ever gifted Matanel, our woodworking instructor, created exquisite jewelry boxes with our students. They can't wait to start collecting their own jewelry in their very own jewelry box.
Life Skills Department- Our passionate life skills teacher, Celine, taught our students all about going shopping, making choices and proper shopping etiquette.
Occupational Therapy Department- Zhenni and Joy, our brilliant occupational therapists, worked with the students to create all kinds of beautiful jewelry for the sale.
The Culture Department- Perel Chaya taught out students all about jewelry and its place in both modern culture as well as ancient culture. She taught them that jewelry is even mentioned prominently in Parshat Chaye Sarah, when Eliezer presents Rivkah with beautiful jewelry so that she would marry Yitzchak.
The students were so excited to see that all of the different things they learned in the different departments in Atidaynu all came together in a real life, learning experience.
They walked away with so many important life skill experiences like shopping and making decisions, but more importantly, they exhibited the trait of thinking about others. A short example of this is how Yehuda wanted to buy a necklace for Ms. Orit and Yehudis decided to chip in so she can take part in making their beloved teacher happy!
Thank you to the whole amazing Atidaynu team for making this beautiful event possible.
